A whisky distillery operator turned to portable safer working equipment specialists SA Equip for help as a raised platform installed to reduce asbestos from a warehouse roof had created a contained space. The issue? Lack of ventilation and the presence of fumes from the barrels made this a hazardous working area.
Solutions
The equipment, and advice that was supplied helped the distillery to complete the maintenance work in two ways:
- A range of SA CYCLONE 40cm ATEX certified fans and anti-static ducting meant the easy to use, highly portable equipment could be quickly installed to create efficient airflow.
Value to the customer
- The creation of increased airflow reduced the risk of an explosion, satisfying the risk assessment for working in the bonded warehouse.
- Significantly, advisory work by SA Equip also helped risk awareness and contributed towards safety procedures in the distillery going forward.

Cape were struggling to achieve the correct temperature specification to allow work to commence on the underside of the platform Heli-deck.
